Steve Dobronyi, Chief Executive Officer

Steve Dobronyi has been Chief Executive Officer of the Company since January 2011.  Steve joined the Company as President and Chief Operating Officer in November 2009.  Steve brings to this role over 25 years of varied insurance industry experience.  He joined Manulife in 1996 and has worked in the Corporate, U.S. and Canadian divisions.  Prior to Manulife, Steve worked for 10 years as an insurance and actuarial consultant specializing in mergers, acquisitions, liquidations and financial modeling.

Steve holds an Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Western Ontario and is a member of the Society of Actuaries, Canadian Institute of Actuaries and the American Academy of Actuaries.

 
Douglas E. McIntyre, Vice Chairman

Douglas McIntyre has been Vice Chairman of the Company since January 2011 and previously had been the Chief Executive Officer of the Company since 2001 and of Echelon since 2002. Doug began his insurance career in 1973. From 1983 to 2000, he was General Manager and then President and Chief Executive Officer of Pafco Insurance Company (later Pembridge Insurance Company, following its acquisition by Allstate in 1998), a niche insurer specializing in non-standard auto insurance and certain specialty commercial and personal lines insurance programs.

During 2000 and 2001, Doug assisted the Company in developing a strategy to grow its business, primarily through acquisitions. He joined the Company as its Chief Executive Officer in September 2001, upon the closing of the Company’s first significant acquisition.

Doug holds a Bachelor of Science (1972) degree and a Master of Business Administration (1987) degree, both from the University of Toronto, and a post-Masters Certificate in Advanced Management (2001) from York University. He is an Associate in Risk Management (1979) of the Insurance Institute of America and a Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (1979) of the Insurance Institute of Canada.

 
Hemraj Singh, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Hemraj Singh has been Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Company since 2001. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Singh was an independent business consultant for two years. From 1985 to 1999, he held various positions leading up to Assistant Vice President & Controller at Pafco Insurance Company.

Hemraj Singh is a Certified General Accountant (CGA) and holds a Bachelor of Business Administrative Studies (1989) degree from York University.

 
James Cizek , Chief Executive Officer U.S. Division

In his role of Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. Division, Jim Cizek is responsible for the strategic development and general management of EGI's insurance business in the United States.

Jim joined the Company in September 2007. He brings to the role over 40 years of varied Property & Casualty insurance industry experience.  Prior to EGI, he worked for several Property & Casualty companies in a variety of senior roles where he gained expertise in marketing, claims, underwriting, product development, and general management.

Jim attended the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, majoring in Social Science.  Jim successfully completed the Harvard Business School Executive Competition and Strategy Program.

 
George Kalopsis, President and Chief Operating Officer, Echelon

George Kalopsis has been the President and Chief Operating Officer of Echelon since 2002. He served as Echelon’s Chief Operating Officer and General Manager in 2001 and 2002. From 1985 to 2001, he was National Claims Manager and then Vice-President, Claims of Pafco Insurance Company.

George Kalopsis holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts (1979) degree from the University of Western Ontario and the Chartered Insurance Professional (1988) designation from the Insurance Institute of Canada.

 
Robert J. Fuller, Vice President, Claims, Echelon

Robert Fuller has been the Vice President of Claims of Echelon since 2001. From 1999 to 2001, he held the position of Director of Claims at Coachman Insurance Company. From 1991 to 1999 Robert Fuller held various claims management positions at Pafco Insurance Company, leading to the position of Claims Manager, Canada.

Robert Fuller has also co-owned and operated an independent adjusting firm and has over twenty years of claims experience. Robert Fuller holds a Bachelor of Arts (1983) degree in Economics from the University of Western Ontario.

 
Stephen R. Steele, Vice President, Automobile Underwriting, Echelon

Stephen Steele has been the Vice President, Automobile Underwriting of Echelon since 2000. From 1979 to 2000, he held various senior field and underwriting positions, becoming Assistant Vice President at Pafco Insurance Company specializing in the underwriting of non-standard personal lines and commercial automobile risks.

Stephen Steele is a member of the Insurance Institute of Canada.

 
John A. Czerwinski, Executive Vice President, Personal Lines Division, Echelon

John Czerwinski has been Executive Vice President, Personal Lines Division since November 2006. Mr. Czerwinski joined Echelon in May 2005 as Vice President, Business Development. In this role Mr. Czerwinski led the re-branding of Echelon and was active in diversifying Echelon’s product offerings and introducing new programs. From 1997 to 2000, he was Marketing Manager for Traders General Insurance Company (Aviva). From 2001 to 2005, he was Vice President of Elite Insurance Company (Aviva), which specializes in the underwriting of niche insurance products across Canada. At Elite, Mr. Czerwinski was responsible for the strategic and operational management of the company. In January 2005, in addition to his responsibilities in Elite, Mr. Czerwinski was appointed to the position of Vice President, Operations of Traders General, a group home and auto insurer with annual gross written premiums in excess of $450 million.

Mr. Czerwinski holds a Bachelor of Arts (1990) degree from Wilfrid Laurier University.
 
Michael Rocchi, Vice President, Niche Products Division

Michael Rocchi has been Vice President, Niche Products Division since August 2007.  Michael joined Echelon in March 2003 as Director, Niche Products Division.  From 1984 to 1999 he held various underwriting and management positions at Pafco Insurance Company, where he ultimately assisted in the sale of Pafco's niche program portfolio to ING following Pafco's acquisition by Allstate in 1998.

Mr. Rocchi completed the Insurance Administration Program at Mohawk College in 1984.  He is a Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional (1987) of the Insurance Institute of Canada and a Canadian Risk Manager (1997) of the Canadian Institute of Risk Management.

 
Ingrid Wilson, Vice President, Human Resources

Ingrid Wilson has been Vice President, Human Resources, since February 2009.  Ingrid joined the Company in May 2002 as Human Resources Manager.  Her career in the field of Human Resources has spanned the last twenty years.  During that time she has worked in various industries and held several senior human resources roles, with responsibilities in the areas of: Organizational Development; Succession Planning; Compensation; Policy Formulation; Recruitment; Employee Development and Training and Employee Relations.

Ingrid holds the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation and is currently working towards the Compensation Management Specialist (CMS) designation.
